Like a spell cast in sound, the Reno Phil conjures an evening in the pursuit of magic, where music shimmers, soars, and ignites the imagination. At the heart of it all is Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, bursting into a glorious blaze of color, rhythm, and enchantment. The journey begins with Jonathan Sokol's What Trees May Speak, a mysterious and evocative soundscape where nature whispers its hidden truths. The night comes to a triumphant close with Jon Nakamatsu, longtime favorite of the Phil, whose clarity, depth, and expressive command makes him an ideal interpreter of one of the most beloved works in the repertoire.

A changeling, a fire, and the fatal cost of a tale.
In 1800s Ireland, the Cleary family are visited by a family friend named Jack Dunne, who specializes in the art of traditional Irish folklore. Upon noticing Bridget Cleary’s independence and her struggling marriage to Michael, he convinces Michael that Bridget has been replaced with a “sidhe”(pronounced “shee”) - an Irish fairy reminiscent of a witch, much to the horror of Bridget’s sister and children. This play is based on the historical account of Bridget Cleary’s accusation and blends fairy tales and folklore with historical events.

Come From Away is generally rated for ages 10+ or 12+, often compared to a PG-13 movie, due to themes of 9/11, some strong language (bleeped), alcohol use, and emotional weight, but it's praised for its positive message of compassion, kindness, and human connection, though sensitive viewers might find the 9/11 context triggering.
The musical is built around the events of September 11, 2001, so be prepared for discussions about fear, death, and racial profiling, even though the violence isn't shown. The show contains occasional strong language (like "f--k" [bleeped], "damn," "sh--") and some innuendo and includes portrayals of alcohol consumption and emotional coping with a global tragedy. Despite the heavy subject, the show is celebrated for its uplifting themes of humanity, teamwork, and compassion, making it a powerful experience.

Long, summer days mean hikes in the foothills or along the Tahoe Rim Trail, mountain biking in some of the most epic terrain, or chilling (literally) at Lake Tahoe, whether on the beach or on the water.
Shorter days and colder temperatures are what really get us going. Did you know the Lake Tahoe region has the largest concentration of ski resorts in North America?

The project was started in 2023, and so far they’ve kept their promise of making it an annual thing.
Some repeat artists coming back every year to create new murals. And downtown is quickly filling up with art.
The official map claims that 73 new murals have been added, most from the three years of the festival but some in the previous decade or so.
